The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly-funded schools in England to raise the attainment and improve the progress of disadvantaged pupils.  These pupils benefit from additional support to help them reach their full potential at school.  

The Pupil Premium funding is allocated to schools based on the number of: children who currently receive Free School Meals or have been in receipt of Free School Meals in the last 6 years; children who are Looked-After or who have left the care of the Local Authority; or children of armed service personnel. 

At St Edmund's we have high aspirations for all children.  We use the Pupil Premium funding to meet individual learning needs, remove barriers to success and broaden opportunities for disadvantaged children.  We evaluate the impact of the Pupil Premium Grant annually and we determine our Pupil Premium Strategy each year according to current pupils' needs and evidence of best practice. 

In 2023/24 we used the Pupil Premium Grant to fund booster tutoring sessions, increased access to ELSA sessions, increased access to technology, extra-curricular clubs, wrap around care, and residential visits for our pupils.
