Speaking, Listening & Drama

At St Edmund’s, speaking and listening is key to supporting children navigate their way through the wider curriculum and the wonder that is literacy.

We like to celebrate the dramatic process, performance and good experiences of ‘theatre’ and give children opportunities to;

  • To develop their personality and their powers of imagination and communication.
  • To foster confidence, social awareness and the creative potential present in all children.
  • To enable children to develop a sense of audience.

Through Drama, children may explore all areas of the curriculum – historical topics, social issues, biographical accounts etc. We also encourage children to enter local drama competitions with great success, as well as celebrating National Poetry Day by learning and sharing poems across the school.

We also run a very successful weekly drama club for children in both KS1 and KS2.
